Unfortunately, due to the surge in Olive Oil prices, we have decided not to stock Gacia de la Cruz oils until next year (2024). As an alternative, we highly recommend trying the 5L versions of the Deortegas Organic Cornicabra and Organic Coupage or the Acusla EVOO.
Hacienda el Palo Reserva Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (5L PET) – 100% Picual
Producers note:
It is an extra virgin olive oil of Picual variety and a superior category. An EVOO obtained by cold extraction directly from olives and only by mechanical methods. It presents aromas of grass, apple, and almond, with important notes of olive leaf, tomato and artichoke to a lesser extent. The Palate is an oil with medium bitterness and a slightly more intense and pleasant spiciness that makes it an ideal product for daily consumption in raw, as well as for cooking.
This oil has excellent healthy properties due to its high content of oleic acid and natural antioxidants (vitamin E, polyphenols, etc.).
Conservation:
For its correct conservation, it is essential to keep the oil in a closed container, in a cool place, and away from light (especially sunlight).
Picual variety:
The Picual olives are one of the most cultivated varieties of Spain. The olive oil extracted from Picual olives has a medium aromatic profile with pleasant notes of tomato, fig tree, olive leaf, and freshly cut grass. Its oil is also well known for its strong bitter- and spiciness. It is often mixed with other oil to soften its bitterness and enhance its fruity flavor. Thanks to its stability the olive oil extracted from Picual olive has a long shelf life and makes it stable for cooking or frying.
About Hacienda el Palo:
Acieites Hacienda el Palo is among the best olive oil producers in Jaén, the World Capital of Olive Oil. They have countless, national and international awards, and with great family history. The Martos Ávila family has been producing olives for four generations since 1941. In the early 2000s, they decided to build a modern mill on their farm, to transform their olives into a golden liquid. Today they are producing ca.54000 hectolitres of oil per year. The olives come from the Family Farm, which is 300 hectares with 30 000 trees, as well as from selected local producers. Their credo is: ‘Our dream and our know-how is above anything and is the reason for the quality of our EVOO’. What else can we say? Hacienda el Palo turns the olives into liquid gold.
ElOlivo review:
This organic oil is a classic ‘everyday’ oil, with aromas such as apple grass and nuts. At tasting, notes of apple come first followed by green grass and olive leaf with nice nut after tones. It is bitter and it comes with intense spiciness. This oil is amazingly versatile in the kitchen and if you like stronger oils this would be your choice. It is made from Picual olive, therefore suitable for cooking and frying. We could start to write all of the dishes we made with this oil, but the list would be endless, so we just don’t do it. Oh, and it is organic. We tried it, we loved it, and you will do so as well.
