Megaron variety:
Megaron olives, grown in Northern Greece, are known for their high-quality extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). This variety produces rich, aromatic oil with a balanced taste, combining fruity, slightly bitter, and peppery notes. Megaron EVOO is prized for its high polyphenol content, making it both flavorful and nutritious.
Chalkidiki variety:
Chalkidiki olives, grown in Northern Greece, are mainly known as table olives but can also produce extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). This variety yields a mild, smooth oil with delicate fruity and grassy notes, low bitterness, and gentle pepperiness. Chalkidiki EVOO is valued for its soft, approachable flavor, making it ideal for light dishes and everyday use.
About Petrousa Farm:
This is the story of two dreamers, Dimos and Stefi, who always wanted to create top-quality olive oil. Back in 2018, they took the leap, diving into a journey filled with learning, traveling, and plenty of hard work. Fast forward a few years, and their dream has turned into reality.
Today, they run a modern farm in Petrousa, Greece, complete with a cutting-edge mill equipped with the latest technology. They’re all about quality over quantity, and their last harvest produced just around four hectoliters of olive oil—meaning only a lucky few hundred people get to taste it each year.
What makes their oil so special? It’s not just the rich flavor or the meticulous process, but the heart and passion poured into every drop. Their story is proof that with dedication and a little bit of dreaming, incredible things can happen—just like their one-of-a-kind olive oil.
ElOlivo review:
This year’s Petrousa EVOO is a little different from last year’s. It’s pressed from unique and rare olive varieties, which makes this oil seriously interesting.
The aromas are amazing - super fruity. As soon as you open the bottle, you get a real touch of the Mediterranean. Notes of tomato, green banana, a hint of apple, and green almonds jump right out. On the palate, it delivers nice fruity flavors of tomato and banana, with a touch of mint and a smooth, almondy finish. There’s a pleasant bitterness and a gentle peppery kick, all in beautiful balance. It’s a complex yet super pleasant oil.
It’s great with tomato-based dishes, salads, casseroles, or seafood. Ideal for light cooking and also amazing for baking.
Petrousa is a beautiful oil with a great story, made from super rare, awesome olive varieties. If you’re into olive oils, this is a must-try - and if you’re just looking for a versatile, smooth EVOO, it’s a great pick.
