Producer's notes:
Sapfo® extra virgin olive oil is a unique Greek olive oil, meticulously harvested exclusively from the mountainous, arid regions of Mytilene on the island of Lesvos.
The name Sapfo® is inspired by the poet Sappho, whom Plato called the tenth Muse and who was born in Mytilene.
The bottle’s label features a cut-out motif inspired by fragments of ancient vessels. Its colour palette and typography create a minimalist design that evokes the heritage and traditions of antiquity.
Originating in southwestern Lesvos, this golden-hued extra virgin olive oil is composed of 70% Kolovi, 20% Adramytini, and 10% Agriela olives. It is distinguished by its rich, intense aroma.
Kolovi variety:
Native to the Greek island of Lesvos, Kolovi produces beautifully balanced extra virgin olive oils with fresh herbal aromas, notes of green almond and tomato leaf, and a gentle peppery finish. This variety is naturally known for its higher polyphenol content, while remaining elegant, smooth and well balanced.
Adramytini variety:
Native to the Greek island of Lesvos, Adramytini is one of Greece's oldest olive varieties. It produces smooth, delicate extra virgin olive oils with mild fruitiness, subtle herbal notes and a gentle, well-balanced finish. Loved for its approachable character, it's an excellent choice for everyday enjoyment.
About Papadellis:
For over 40 years, Papadellis has been producing extra virgin olive oil on the beautiful Greek island of Lesvos. What began as a family business has grown into one of the island's leading olive oil producers, while staying true to its roots.
Today, the company is still family-owned and run by two brothers, with Babis Papadellis playing an active role in the day-to-day running of the business. Together with a close-knit team of around 15 people, they look after everything from the olive groves and mill to bottling and quality control. During the harvest, the team grows to around 30–40 people as seasonal workers join to help bring in the olives.
The family cares for around 4,000 of their own olive trees and also works closely with local growers across Lesvos, helping showcase the unique character of the island's olive oil.
With their own olive groves, modern olive mill and bottling facilities, Papadellis oversees every step of the journey - from tree to bottle - ensuring every drop reflects the quality and tradition of Lesvos.
ElOlivo review:
Produced by the Papadellis family on the Greek island of Lesvos, this is a beautifully balanced extra virgin olive oil made from local olive varieties. Working closely with local growers, the family combines generations of experience with a passion for producing authentic Greek olive oil.
Fresh aromas of tomato leaf, cut grass and artichoke are complemented by delicate herbal notes. On the palate, it is smooth and harmonious, with flavours of fresh tomato, green herbs and a subtle hint of almond. Its gentle peppery finish and very low bitterness make it exceptionally approachable.
This is the kind of olive oil you'll reach for every day. Mild enough to complement rather than overpower your food, it's perfect for salads, vegetables, fish and pasta. Its excellent stability also makes it ideal for everyday cooking, roasting and even frying.
If you enjoy smooth, well-balanced extra virgin olive oils with fresh Mediterranean character, this is one you'll keep coming back to. Our recommendation? Use it every day that's exactly what it was made for.
